Voices From Inside...(The Cup Club)

As you may know we (Harriet and Hannah) took over Sea + Flo from its original business creator, Maria, earlier this year. We are obviously BIG fans of our Sea + Flo menstrual cups, and we’re quite happy to shout about them from the rooftops, you may have heard!
BUT we wanted to hear from those of you who have been using menstrual cups for a while, including those using the Sea + Flo cup since its beginnings in 2020.
So… introducing our little series;
Voices from inside the Cup Club!
To kick this off, we hear from Lara, who is very happy with her original Sea + Flo, still going strong, 3 years on...
"I started using one about 3 years ago, I was 35 ish. I’d be using period pants for a couple of years, with tampons if needed for swimming etc. I had heard about ‘cups’ but I wasn't sure where to start...saw a Sea + Flo one for sale in Teylu and thought it was worth a try. It was nice to be reducing waste and to not worry about running out of anything.
It took a little bit of practice to get it in properly, but it didn’t take long before I was completely won over.
From the first period I knew it would be a game changer. Once I’d got the hang of getting it in it was like I wasn't on my period!
I never really loved tampons, always found them scratchy and uncomfortable, and having to change them every 4 hours is a pain if you're out for the day. The cup is perfect, once it’s in you can forget about it until you’re home, you can’t feel it once it’s in and you don’t have to keep dishing out each month for tampons.
It’s also perfect if you're on holiday, no worrying about leaks or having to be near a loo to change anything. It’s amazing for swimming and it’s great for those days towards the end of your period when you can’t risk not using anything, I always felt uncomfortable with a semi dry tampon in but with the cup you don’t notice.
You also can’t ignore all the research into the chemicals in sanitary products. I care about what I eat, the products I use on my skin, so why shouldn’t I care about what I put inside my body too!
Would I ever go back to your previous period care? No, absolutely not, the cup is a complete game changer.
My advice for people thinking about starting with a cup? TRY IT!!! We are on our periods for nearly a quarter of our lives!! That’s too much time for it to be getting in the way of doing the stuff we love
But once you’ve decided to try it, take your time, watch some videos and try it when you know you're at home for a while so you can check for leaks. I tend to put mine in once I’m out of the shower in the morning, and I know I can go to the loo and check it before heading out for the day."
Thanks to Lara from Ladyvale for giving us all the feel goods with her words. We're so happy its been a game changer for her too. She's able to enjoy her busy life without her period getting in the way!
